"Smart Parts" Engineering, Material Choices APCOM manufacturers water heater dip tubes in crosslinked polyethylene (PEX), polypropylene, and polysulfone. Because PEX is a compound that crosslinks when exposed to moisture and withstands temperatures up to 400 degrees F, PEX provides enhanced resistance to heat distortion, environmental stress cracking, creep, and abrasion. Additionally, life-extending antioxidants are less likely to be washed out of the polymer by flowing water. Dip tube designs also create the "self cleaning" ability of many water heaters, by creating inlet water flow patterns that keep sediment from building up. Our patented "turbo dip tube" design creates a jet of water directed at the floor of the heater to reduce buildup. All of our dip-tube products are certified for mechanical and ANSI/NSF61 requirements by Underwriters Laboratories and International Approval Services. APCOM has also engineered a specially designed PEX heat trap that eliminates the noisy operation of traditional floating ball heat traps. Our patented heat trap utilizes a baffle that minimizes convection heat loss silently and effectively. This is a simplified design which provides more durability. Our heat trap is available in 3/4" N.P.T. pipe nipples and dip tubes. We produce PEX lined pipe nipples in 3/4" and 1" N.P.T. thread configurations and in lengths ranging from 1-13/16" to 4". And custom designs are also available.
